A Double Give Away

I think you should know that chocolate chip cookies are on my Top 5 list of favorite things.

If you gave me a choice of the world's best desserts and a chocolate chip cookie, I would choose the cookie.

And because I'm in a giving mood I am going to give you all my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. (Those who know me best are laughing right now. Noelle? Leave a recipe??? Don't worry, it will be the only time in my blogging career that I leave a recipe.) most faithful commenter...has an amazing mom. She is delightfully funny and I laugh any time I talk to her. She gave me this recipe. (Thank you Amy's mom!)

2/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoon vanilla
3 c. flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt
bag of chocolate chips (only milk chocolate will do)

bake @ 375 for 8-10 minutes

*Hint* The cookies are better if you undercook them just a little bit.

But wait! That's not all! There's another part of the give away!

When I'm not in the mood to make cookies, my favorite place to buy them is Kneaders...a bakery/deli that is only a few minutes away from my work. If you've ever been there you know exactly what I'm talking about when I say their cookies are out of this world delicious.

So here's the deal -

You leave me a comment telling me why I should send you a dozen chocolate chunk cookies from Kneaders (and they aren't tiny cookies people) and my chocolate chip cookie committee and I will decide who is the most deserving of this AMAZING treat, and it will be yours!

You have until Sunday night to leave your comment.

And now I am off to buy my own cookie.

(PS. If you try the recipe, let me know what you think.)

I will come up with a good reason later, but I have another hint. If you smack the pan on the counter top when you take them out of the oven, it makes them better. I don't know why.

Manda said...

Yes Brynn is right about that. It's totally true.

I have many reasons why you should send them to me. I'm just amazing and you love me soooo much AND I hiked Timp with midnight. That is why.

Dear Manda Lou,

Did you know that it was Brynn who first taught me to smack the pan on the countertop? It's true, it was. And you thought I had been doing it forever...nope. Only since the Utah State days.

Brynn, one day Brian asked me, "Why do you smack the pan?" And I said, "I don't know...Brynn told me to and I believed her."

Are you really going to do that? I mean sending those chocolate chips..Thats generously considerate of you .Whoever gets it,Enjoy!!!Over here there a lot of outlets, which have freshly baked choclate chips, of your choice..mmmm.Yes the picture on my page header , is from The time traveller's wife. Before watching the movie , I thought ,I must read the book.

Wow. I didn't know that. I bow down to Brynn then. And here I thought it was Noelle that was smart ;)

The reason you should send us 1 dozen chocolate chip cookies from Kneaders: Did you know that Cookie Monster lives in my basement? For real! I'm always having to vacuum down there cause he sheds that blue monster hair like crazy. Well, last night he made a threat that he would eat one of my children unless I provided him with 1 dozen chocolate chip cookies from Kneaders. HELP Noelle! Save my children!!!!

If that reason isn't good enough, here's our specific answers as to why we should get cookies.....
Ruth - "so I can get messy eating it"
Kate - "Cause Noelle loves us"
Nick - "Cause we love Noelle"
Allie - "Because she is great aunt"
Rachel - "Because you don't give away enough food to my children :)"
Jared - "I love cookies!"

My vote goes to Rachel because she is by far the most creative person I know. Well done Rach. :)

I think you should send me the cookies because I have cried my allotment for the past decade in one day...I'm sad and I'm sick. Isn't that a good reason?

The reason why I deserve the cookies.... I've been on the blasted treadmill every day for 3 weeks...and have been off sugar for 2. No soda for 2 months.

Ummm...well I like cookies. Plus the child within loves the cookies (today anyway...we'll see about tomorrow) also the pan smacking business? it's because they get "deeper" into the pan so when they bake longer they least that's what someone told me and that's why I do it. In fact it's actually written in my version of my mom's recipe. Seriously.

Also, I'm your most faithful commenter. Why shouldn't I get cookies?

Wait, I just realized I might be too late. *sigh* my life is SOOOO hard!

Kate should get the cookies. She could win anyone over with those eyes.
